Accessibility Statement

Melbury Rooms & Studios is a Victorian terraced villa built around 1850. We recognise that our building presents some physical limitations that we cannot alter, and we want to be upfront about these so you can make an informed decision before booking.

We are committed to being as welcoming and inclusive as possible to all guests. Where physical access is limited, we will do our best to offer a practical alternative. If you have a specific requirement not covered here, please get in touch — we will always do our best to help.

To best assist you, please share any specific needs before arrival, preferably at the time of booking. Without prior notice, we may not have the resources or availability to meet certain requirements after check-in.

Walk-in showers (sliding door, fixed head and hand shower attachment): Studio 1, Room 2, Room 5, Room 6, Studio 8, Studio 9, and Studio 10.

Shower cubicles with a step up (folding doors, fixed head only): Room 3, Room 4, and Studio 7.

If a walk-in shower is essential for your stay, please mention this at the time of booking so we can allocate an appropriate room subject to availability.

Noise

The property is generally very quiet and well insulated from outside noise. We do not play background music anywhere. Designated quiet hours are between 11pm and 8am. We have procedures in place to deal with noise complaints at any time.

Fire Alarm Testing

We test our fire alarm system once a week. The alarm is loud and the test lasts around 2 to 3 minutes, as we are required to check that it can be heard throughout the building. Signage in the property gives advance notice of the day and time. We also knock on the doors of occupied rooms shortly before the test takes place.

If you would be unable to hear the fire alarm, please let us know — we can provide a Deafgard vibrating alarm that sits under your pillow and activates a strobe light when the alarm sounds. See the D/deaf section below for more details.

Printed Information

Printed welcome information is provided in every room. We can supply this in large print or digital format on request, or send it by post or email before your arrival. We are also happy to explain anything verbally, either in person or by phone.

D/deaf Guests

We are happy to communicate by email or WhatsApp — details are on our contact page. We also accept Text Relay (NGT) calls if you prefer to use the phone.

A Deafgard vibrating fire alarm is available on request. It is placed under your pillow and activates both vibration and a strobe light if the fire alarm sounds. Please let us know at the time of booking if you would like one provided.

Neurodivergence

We understand that arriving somewhere new can feel unfamiliar or unsettling. We are happy to answer questions in advance, provide detailed information about the property and its layout, or arrange a visit before you book or arrive — at no charge — so you can familiarise yourself with the space beforehand.

We will make reasonable adjustments based on the information you share with us. The more you are able to tell us, the better we can prepare for your stay.

Verlassen Sie sich nicht nur auf unser Wort.

I stayed a few days a week for 5 weeks and I really liked this place. It's clean, well equipped, conveniently located, and well run. Communications are great and they are always ready to sort any issue you may face. I have no doubt I would return.
